Hotels and musical direction
In a hotel, music isn’t a one-off event: it’s part of the daily running of the place. Alongside performing, I’ve coordinated music across entire hotels.

Experience behind the scenes
- 1993 to 1996
I created Tardes Pasteleras at the Continental Plaza in Boca del Río and the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Monterrey: live piano with coffee and sweet pastries, turning an ordinary afternoon into a regular date. Ideas that grew from there
- 1997 to 1999
Musical director and founder of the house band at Iberostar, Playa del Carmen.
- Veracruz, Boca del Río and Monterrey
Music coordination for the lobby, lobby bar, restaurant, staff parties and events on December 24 and 31: choosing artists and equipment, handling technical requirements and acting as the link between hotel management and musicians.
- Hotel Castelo, Boca del Río
Years later, Tardes Pasteleras found another home at the Castelo. I also worked there with singer-songwriter Ramón Nogueira on arrangements and musical direction. Listen to the 2011 recording
Programmes I propose
A regular weekly evening
A quiet day turned into a recurring date, with the right format for the venue.
Piano mornings
Weekday breakfasts with solo piano.
Música de Temporada
One person to speak to about music for your November and December events: posadas, staff parties, Christmas Eve, New Year and your clients’ own events.
Música de Temporada
I play the piano parts myself. For other line-ups, I find, assess and stand behind the choice of musician. You have one person to call, before and during the event.
- The briefUnderstand the event: timing, space, guests and what you want to achieve.
- The formatDecide what each moment calls for: solo piano, trio, saxophone, strings or an ensemble.
- Choosing musiciansFind and assess musicians, then present specific options with a date for the decision.
- CoordinationTechnical requirements, timing, working with the sound team and on-site supervision.
What I don’t do
I don’t take a commission on musicians: you hire them directly. My performance and coordination fees are separate and clearly stated. I won’t commit an artist I haven’t heard.

Let’s talk
Twenty minutes is enough for a first conversation: which events are you planning, and is the music for each one already arranged?
